of misfortunate values
stunted from growth
but allowing it
watching it and
allowing it
to drop down on you

shelter
which now crumbles
around you
each falling brick
of fired-clay fury
and sun-dried prejudice
hitting you on its way down

so alone
such a tragic character
finding feigned happiness
in the smiles of ceramic kittens
and PAX reflected from the screen
onto your lifeless face

mixed-up ideals
escaping reality
more and more
with each donation
to His house
the one that stands tall
with gilded guilt,
as you traipse through
the ruins of your own

he was only three

when you instilled the fear
of fire and brimstone
in his innocent chastised heart
not seeing
not choosing
to listen
ignoring his pain
for the betterment of your soul

what good is such a soul
who cannot see any light
but the short-wired beacon
of your own
ficticious salvation?

you will go blind
when it finally flickers out
and you awake to realize
that your pushed away reality
is all you have left
your foundation is sinking
and your salvation
needs replacing.

he has endured
through every
shorted lightbulb
every crack in your mortar
he has filled
with his own strength

when will you see
that His artificial glow
will never outshine
the radiance
of your own son?
